Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) to continue into the new year

After many months of persistent lobbying by the ADA and the formation of key partnerships, the Government has not attempted to introduce the necessary legislation to close the Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS).

This means that despite announcements to the contrary, the CDBS will remain operational for both public and private dental sectors into 2017 with some modifications with the maximum benefits available to each eligible child reduced from $1000 to $700; however, any child who commenced treatment during 2016 will have access to the full original cap amount through the current two-year period. The Child Dental Benefits Schedule (CDBS) is a dental benefits program for eligible children aged 2-17 years that under the new arrangement provides up to $700 in benefits to the child for basic dental services over a 2 year period.
