Bad Breath
Bad breath is also know as halitosis.
What you eat affects the air you exhale. Food collects between the teeth, on the tongue, around the gums and on dentures leaving an unpleasant odour. Sometimes, a good thorough clean performed by your dental hygienist may be enough to resolve you bad breath.
Bad breath can be a warning sign for periodontal (gum) disease as well as xerostomia (dry mouth).
It may also be a sign of a more serious medical or dental problem. With regular checkups, your dentist can detect and treat the dental problems early and refer you, if required, to your family doctor or other suitable medical specialists.
Please speak to your dentist if bad breath is a concern for you.
