Glass Ionomer Cements
Glass ionomer cements (GICs) are also tooth coloured, being made of a glass powder and water that becomes solid when set. GICs are used as a filling material for very decayed back teeth or as an insulation layer under composite resin fillings. GICs can be used as a temporary filling material, for example, during a course of root canal therapy. They are a good material to use when the necks of the teeth have been worn down from brushing.
